Usually, you pay it in cash to the villa managers during check-in. The security deposit depends on the villa, and it may rise if you’re traveling with pets, organising group events, or have some other additional requirements.

Tourist tax is another common extra cost. In most cases, it’s already included in the price, but some villas charge it additionally. In Croatia, the tourist tax is no more than a few euros, and it’s free for children under 12 years old and reduced by 50% for those between the ages of 12 and 18. The exact amount depends on your destination and accommodation type.

Today, policies are slowly changing to accommodate the new travel habits. It’s quite common for villas to have a 5-night minimum stay during the summer, and it’s very rare to find a villa that allows less than 3 nights' stay.
