Restaurants in Umag, Istria

If you are looking to experience good cuisine during your villa vacation in Umag, our recommendation is:

Tavern Rustica

It is a tavern or "konoba" which is a traditional type of Croatian restaurant. The setting is typically rustic with stone walls and wooden furniture. Tavern Rustica offers authentic Istrian dishes: pasta dishes like fuži (a type of pasta typical for Istria), sheep chesse, and various meat dishes. During the truffle season, both white and black truffles are available to make various dishes even better.

Tavern Nono

This is another tavern or "konoba" with traditional Istrian cuisine. They also offer dishes like truffles (which the Istrian region is famous for), homemade pastas, and olive oil-based dishes. The seafood is also a major highlight. Similar to Tavern Rustica, you can expect rustic and traditional Croatian decor. Such places often have warm, family vibes, and guests might feel like they are dining in someone's home.

Tavern Buscina

It is a family-owned business located near Umag for the past 30 years. It is focused on local Istrian cuisine with imaginative homemade dishes from fresh, seasonal ingredients. The menu includes delicacies like homemade prosciutto, cheese, ricotta, seafood like cuttlefish and shrimps, as well as boskarin meat and truffles. Tavern Buscina also offers great wines and olive oils.
