Primosten Old Town

Primosten Beaches

Primosten is well-known for its beautiful beaches with soft white pebbles and crystal-clear sea. Thus, it is an excellent choice for a beach vacation in Croatia.

The old town of Primosten sits on a small peninsula. Several smaller beaches are popular among the locals. They are ideal if you are staying in the center and want to freshen up a bit during a long summer day.

The most popular beach in Primošten is Mala Raduca Beach. It extends along the southern side of the Raduca peninsula. On the northern side, you will find Velika Raduca Beach, also often referred to as a City Beach. This beach is popular for families with children.

Outside the center, the most beautiful beaches are Porat and Bilo.

Porat Beach has slightly more demanding access from the road, so it is rarely too crowded.

Beach Bilo is a beautiful lagoon in front of which there is a small island. This is a smaller beach, so we always recommend arriving earlier to get a spot.

Among the restaurants in Primosten that won our hearts, we singled out Restaurant Mediteran, Konoba Toni, and Restaurant Kamenar. All three of them are in the old town.

Visiting Croatian National Parks from Primosten

In less than a 40-minute drive from Primosten, you will reach Krka National Park. Here you can enjoy walking the numerous hiking trails that take you around powerful waterfalls. You can spend the whole day inside the park or you can make this visit as a half day excursion. We recommend stopping in Skradin for lunch or doing the sightseeing tour of Sibenik old town.

Plitvice Lakes National Park is two and a half hours by road away. Here you should definitely dedicate the whole day. It is well worth the trip and the time. We recommend taking the private tour with a driver so you can travel relaxed and enjoy it fully.

Kornati Islands National Parkis the archipelago of 89 islands. Dipped in the azure Adriatic Sea, those islands make a real nautical paradise. Best option for a day trip to Kornati from Primosten is to join the organized tour or to hire a skippered speed boat or motor yacht.

Primosten Wine Tasting

There are many local producers who offer wine tastings, often paired with the finger food. Besides enjoying tasty wine, paying a visit to one of the local wineries gives you the chance to connect with the locals.

Sibenik Sightseeing

Sibenik is the closest bigger town to Primosten. This coastal town has rich historic and cultural heritage, and even two sites are on the UNESCO list. The first one is the Cathedral of Saint James and the second is the Saint Nicholas Fortress.

Visiting Split and Trogir from Primosten

Within an hour drive south from Primosten you will reach the vibrant city of Split. We recommend booking a guided walking tour of the old town and Diocletian’s Palace upfront.

After the tour, you can spend some time wandering around on your own. Don’t miss having a drink or light meal on the main waterfront promenade Riva.

Then, visit the charming town of Trogir. It is halfway back to Primosten. The old town is located on a small island, connected to the mainland by a bridge. Wander through the lovely streets of the old town. Stop for lunch or dinner, depending on the time of the day or just grab some tasty gelato from the local patisserie.

Private Boat Trip From Primosten

Enrich your Primosten experience with a boat tour. Hire an experienced skipper who will adjust the cruise to your wishes and show you some local hidden gems. Our first recommendation for a boat trip from Primosten is cruising the Sibenik Archipelago. Second, we recommend visiting the Blue Lagoon and the islands of Solta and Ciovo. Third, maybe the most attractive tour is to Blue Cave and Vis Island. The latter, however, will include more time spent driving on the boat because of the longer distance.
